One of Canada’s leading numismatic photographers.
— Canadian Coin News

I’m Denis Richard — the eye behind the lens at Coin Photography Studio. With over 30 years of experience in photography and 7 years as the principal numismatic photographer at Canadian Coin & Currency, I’ve dedicated my craft to capturing coins not just as objects, but as expressions of history, beauty, and meaning.

Assembling a coin collection is an achievement, and Coin Photography Studio exists to elevate the way collectors present and share their achievements — through precise, honest, and expertly crafted numismatic imaging.

If you're here, it means you already value coins for more than their metal. I invite you to see them through my lens.

My professional affiliations include the American Numismatic Association, the Royal Canadian Numismatic Association, the Ontario Numismatic Association, and the Canadian Association for Photographic Art.

More Than a Coin Photographer

Quote attributed to Ansel Adams: 'You don't take a photograph, you make it.'

While I specialize in coin photography, my work extends far beyond numismatics. With over 30 years of experience behind the camera, I've created images across a wide range of subjects, styles, and settings — always with the same attention to light, form, and detail.
